The history of the watch
The first “watch” was invented in the 15th century. The invention was not the goal that watches have now: the clock looking for easy to wear it. The ‘watch’ necessary to navigate. Using a watch people could count the longitude of a ship accurately calculated. This was at least the idea behind the invention, but in reality were calculated with the help of a watch made ââwere far from accurate. Furthermore, the clock was not affected by the fluctuations of the ship and it was not as easy as they thought. Only when the spring mechanism invented in the early 16th century, there were accurate portable timepieces are produced. This was first done by the German Peter Henlein. The first watches were bells. They were oval in shape and hung in chains and contain no more than an hour hand. In 1525 the Swiss Jacob Zech, designed a new kind of mechanism that caused watches were flat. His idea was a little later improved by his compatriot Gruet. He introduced the snek. The snek is a mechanism that provides strong resistance when the spring is wound tight, but the resistance decreases as the spring gets loose. This ensures that the time stand constant. Watches from this invention were perceived as reliable means to measure the times. Over the years watches continued to evolve.
Patek Philippe at the end of the 19th century, placed the wristwatch on the market. It was only a woman jewelry. A little later, Louis Cartier introduced the watch with a leather strap. These watches were very popular, especially in the army because they were cheaper than another pocket and easily usable. There is really no much change on watches since then. There are digital versions on the market, watches and quartz watches with batteries.
