The best New Year Celebration
Last Thanksgiving I was reading the newspaper and saw an article about a dance competition that was taking place on New Years Eve. I thought it would be a great opportunity for me and my husband to rekindle our romance. He agreed to the idea after I begged him a thousand times. Then it was finally time for the big day. I remember I was so nervous and my husband kept telling me that we would do a great job and everyone would be jealous of us. He calmed my nerves a lot.
Time flew when we got to the dance competition. There were a ton of people everywhere and I remember drinking wine and eating cheese and crackers and having a wonderful time.
Before I knew it our time had come up to start dancing. Me and my husband did our routine fine. We definitely weren’t the best ones though. Our routine was plain compared to some of the more experienced couples, who salsa danced and performed much better than us.
That year we didn’t end up placing in the dance competition but it was so much fun. Me and my husband were able to spend all of New Years Eve together. The place was decked out with decorations and looked very romantic. A couple minutes before midnight everyone stood around a TV that was set up and counted down while the ball from Time Square fell. The dance competition was such a fun experience. I had never tried dancing in my life and found it to be exciting and adventurous. Now my husband and I are thinking of attending a dance school. Maybe we will win some competition in the future.

Even my Dog loves Gumby
When I brought my Pomeranian home I thought she was the most adorable little ball of fluff on the planet. Then I found her with my Gumby in her mouth!
She wasn’t chewing on Gumby. She was actually just holding him in her mouth. I know because I screeched and took him away from her. Upon examination of my pal Gumby I found no teeth marks. He was completely unharmed. At first she was so small that she couldn’t carry him. Then she could only drag him around. Finally she was big enough to pick him up and wander around with him.
Now I certainly wouldn’t recommend Gumby as a dog toy. Gumby isn’t safe for chewing. More importantly, it’s Gumby! If there were an 11th commandment it would certainly be about not harming Gumby. As my dog wasn’t chewing or harming Gumby, I let the matter pass. It was cute to see her playing with her pal.
Gumby became her constant companion. I have no idea hat adventures they were having while I was at work but it is clear to me that something was up. One day when I tried to play with Gumby myself I was met with an agitated and barking dog that only the return of her Gumby would quiet.
So I bought a new Gumby. It wasn’t that big of a deal. I already have a Gumby at work, one that lives in my car and one that hangs out in my gym locker. Adding another Gumby to my family wasn’t difficult and it did keep the peace.
What’s rather odd is that my dog will not bother my Gumby. She seems to respect that we each have our own little friend. My brothers visiting dog, Zeus, did not share this Gumby respect.
On the second day of his visit, Zeus found out that it is indeed the size of the fight in the dog rather than the size of the dog that matters. Zeus is Golden Retriever who decided to not only “retrieve” Gumby but to bury most of him in the back yard!
My tiny little dog came in agitated and barking from the back yard. She was so upset that I followed her out to see what the problem was. Imagine my shock when I saw her trying to dig in a spot where I could see a Gumby foot protruding! I dug Gumby out and gave him a good bath. All clean and fresh he was returned to his mistress.
Zeus had other ideas. He immediately tried to take Gumby away from Pomeranian pal who jumped to his defense. There was much barking and showing of teeth before Zeus retreated to the space behind the sofa, yelping in fear!
Gumby was immediately taken and placed into the dog bed where my tiny little canine roommate proceeded to spend the rest of the day curled on top of her pal protectively.
Zeus remained hidden until my brother returned to claim him later that night. Zeus may be the mythological king of the gods but in my house Gumby rules supreme!

Last weekend (09.05.2009.): I went to a party last weekend where they handed out glow sticks as we
walked in the door. I grabbed my glow sticks and hit the dance floor as soon as we arrived. I can hardly put into words how the glow sticks added a whole new element to dancing and made every move look cooler – even for those of us who are not the greatest dancers.
Dancing with my glow sticks among all of the other glow stick dancers gave the room a surreal atmosphere and seemed to let everyone just let go and be themselves without caring what anyone else thought.
